Latitude Coffee Roasters, based in North Lakes, Brisbane, was named Overall Champion of the 2026 Golden Bean World Series, held February 18 in Newcastle, New South Wales, beating out runner-up Kissing Rock Coffee of the United States. Golden Bean bills itself as the world’s largest coffee roasting competition, and the World Series is its top prize, open only to roasters who already earned a silver or gold medal at a regional Golden Bean edition. Founded in 2018 by UK-born roaster Henry Miller, Latitude ships across Australia and internationally through its online shop, where its full lineup of espresso and filter roasts is available by the bag or subscription.
The Winner
Miller opened Latitude’s roastery in North Lakes in 2018, building the business around what he describes as combining artisan coffee with the science of roasting, including close attention to water chemistry and how different milks interact with espresso. The roastery now supplies cafes along Australia’s eastern seaboard and runs its roasting operation on a Probatone 12kg and 25kg roaster alongside a 60kg Barth Menado for larger batches. To even reach the World Series field, a roaster first has to earn a silver or gold medal at one of Golden Bean’s regional editions, which Latitude did before taking the world title in Newcastle.
