Michael Brown is the founder and editor of EspressoDrop.com, a specialty coffee publication covering competition winners and the roasters behind them.
His introduction to the industry came through Torrefazione Italia, where he worked as a barista while in college. The experience built a foundation in espresso craft and an early taste for what separates a great cup from an ordinary one. Over the following decade, he deepened that interest into a focus on the specialty coffee competition circuit and the exceptional lots it surfaces: farm-specific coffees with documented scores and provenance that most enthusiasts would never otherwise encounter.
He has visited cafes across seven countries and territories including Spain, Italy, France, England, Canada, the United States, and Puerto Rico, tasting across different coffee cultures and building familiarity with how competition-focused roasters approach sourcing, roasting, and presentation.
EspressoDrop.com is his effort to connect readers with competition-winning coffees they can actually buy, tracking results from events like the Cup of Excellence, the World Coffee Roasting Championship, and regional roasting festivals worldwide.
