Coffee Masters is a multi-disciplinary barista competition hosted each year at the London Coffee Festival. Unlike single-discipline competitions, Coffee Masters tests competitors across seven distinct skills in a knockout-format tournament, making it one of the most demanding and watchable events in specialty coffee.
The Format
Sixteen baristas compete head-to-head across four days. Scores accumulate through each round until the field narrows to finalists and a champion.
The seven disciplines:
- Cupping — Identifying and describing coffees blind
- Brewing — Manual filter preparation and service
- Latte Art — Free-pour precision and creativity
- The Order Challenge — Speed and accuracy under pressure
- The Signature Drink — Original coffee-based beverage concept
- Origin — Knowledge and presentation of a specific coffee’s provenance
- The Espresso Blend — Semi-finalists and beyond blend their own espresso on stage
