Nordic Coffee Fest is an annual specialty coffee festival held each spring in Gothenburg, Sweden. The event brings together roasters, importers, baristas, and producers from across Scandinavia and the North Atlantic for two days of tastings, talks, and competitions. It is produced by Ordna Event Agency, the Gothenburg-based team also behind The Barista League competition series.
The festival’s flagship award, Nordics Best Roaster, is the region’s most prestigious roasting competition. It is open to roasters from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Åland, and Svalbard.
How the Competition Works
Nordics Best Roaster runs in two stages. In the preliminary round, roasters submit a bag of coffee for blind evaluation by a jury of industry professionals including producers, importers, and roasters. The top 10 advance to the finals at the festival. Each finalist roasts two coffees: a mandatory lot provided to all competitors, and a coffee of their own sourcing. Judges cup all entries blind and score on quality, consistency, and roasting skill.
