The Thailand National Coffee Roasting Championship is Thailand’s national roasting competition, organized by Thailand Coffee Championships, the country’s official World Coffee Championships (WCC) licensed partner. The championship identifies Thailand’s top roaster and selects the country’s representative for the World Coffee Roasting Championship.
Thailand’s specialty coffee scene has grown quickly in the country’s northern highlands, where small farms in provinces like Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Mae Hong Son have built a reputation for high altitude Arabica. The national roasting championship gives that homegrown coffee a stage, with competitors judged on how well they bring out the character of standardized green lots.
How the Competition Works
The championship follows the World Coffee Roasting Championship format established by the World Coffee Events organization. Competitors roast standardized green coffee lots provided to all entrants, and judges score the results on aroma, flavor, body, acidity, and consistency. The finalist with the highest cumulative score represents Thailand at the WCRC. The 2026 edition ran preliminary rounds in late 2025, with final rankings announced that December.
