Macizo Café and DeLa Finca Specialty Coffee were named the outright Filter and Espresso category winners at the 2026 Global Coffee Awards’ Latin America regional edition, judged blind in Houston, Texas on August 12. But Filter and Espresso are each split into subcategories, from Gesha to Decaf, and every gold medal awarded within them is a real, standalone competition win: eight other roasters also took Filter or Espresso gold this year, and we cover all of them below. Los Alpes Natural Geisha Wins Nicaragua 2026 Cup of Excellence at 92 Points
The highest-scoring coffee in Nicaragua’s 2026 Cup of Excellence is a Natural Geisha from Los Alpes farm, which earned 92.00 points and sold at auction for $140 a pound. It is the third time the farm has taken first place in the country’s natural category, having also won in 2023 and 2024.
