My Little Cup Wins French Coffee Roasting Championship 2026

by

Bertrand Lucas of My Little Cup won the 2026 French Coffee Roasting Championship (Championnat de France de Torréfaction) on September 14 at the Paris Coffee Show in the Parc Floral de Paris. The competition, organized by SCA France, crowns France’s best roaster from a field working with standardized green lots across three judging stages. Lucas claims the title Meilleur Torréfacteur de France and earns a place representing France at the World Coffee Roasting Championship in New Orleans in 2027. My Little Cup ships to EU countries.

Based in Marcq-en-Barœul in northern France, My Little Cup operates coffee shops across Brussels, London, Montreal, and Geneva. Their current online range includes Colombian and Ethiopian single origins from €12, available through their European shop.

The Winner

Bertrand Lucas founded My Little Cup in Brussels in 2014 after a stay in Sydney introduced him to the specialty coffee world. Growing up in a Cognac-producing family, he had spent his life in a culture where terroir shapes a product’s character, and he found the same principle at work in specialty coffee. My Little Cup has grown into a multi-city brand with coffee shops across four countries and a roasting operation in northern France, where Lucas refined the competition skills that earned him the French roasting vice-championship before this year’s win.

The French Coffee Roasting Championship is organized by SCA France and held annually at the Paris Coffee Show in Paris. Competitors work with the same supplied green coffee rather than their own beans, judged across three stages: evaluating and classifying the green coffee, developing a roast profile suited to it, and the sensory quality of the final roasted cup. Lucas finished ahead of Adrien Georges of Comptoirs Jeanne d’Arc in second place and Matthieu Chaumont of Anne Caron in third.

France has built a strong record in the international roasting circuit in recent years. Mikaël Portannier won the 2025 World Coffee Roasting Championship, and the following year’s French champion Jonathan Le Pautremat represented France at the 2026 edition in Brussels, won by Belgium’s Benjamin Brassart. Lucas will carry that tradition to New Orleans in 2027.
